5 Tips For Finding Your Wedding Photographer

It’s your big day. Dates are locked. Venue is booked. You’ve obviously started shopping already. You know where to shop for clothes, I’m sure you can handle that very well. But how and where do you start shopping for your wedding photographer? It can seem daunting at first but worry not, it will be easier than you expected. Here we give you tips and suggestions on how you can go about finding the right photographer for your wedding days.

References

Start with the easiest place, friend’s and family. Ask them about who they have worked with for their weddings and try and see photos from their weddings. Word of mouth references are highly sought after because they give you a sense of trust, as you get first hand knowledge about what to expect from the photographer. Get an idea about what all services their photographers offered them and the charges.

Budget

Once you’ve spoken to a few people you will have an idea of the general market rates that photographers would offer. And what all you can expect for that cost. With this in mind, you should have a budget in mind when you start contacting photographers for yourself. You can then start shortlisting people based on their charges and services offered. Go back to your network and spread the word about your requirements and budget. This way you will have all the help you can get.

Instagram

The internet in general is the next easiest option to carry out your search. But Instagram would most likely become your best friend when it comes to looking for photographers. It’s not the easiest place to search but if you spend enough time on it, you’ll eventually find options that fit your requirements.

Wedding Aggregators

If that doesn’t work for you, there are tons of websites that have listings for various wedding related services, including photographers. Most of them would require you to register yourself on their pages to be able to actually get in touch with the photographer. Once you do that you can browse portfolios and also filter based on budgets. You might find the same listings across multiple sites so you don’t actually need to register on all sites. Find two or three that have maximum options to choose from and start contacting your shortlisted photographers.

Wedding Planners

Your wedding planner should be able to connect you with wedding photographers they have worked with in the past. They are familiar with each photographers style, services and charges. They could easily connect you with multiple options at short notice. In case you are not happy with their in-house options, you can always insist on them finding people from outside. Of course, finding your wedding planner will require an entire blog post of its own!!!
