About The Book
Tea is a much-loved beverage in our country. Tea from India is revered by people across the globe. Tea sellers have customised over 10,000 different concoctions of the beverage. But how much do we actually know about where our tea comes from?
Through our book Burra Bungalows of North Bengal, we have explored the heritage bungalows built over a century ago, and also highlighted various aspects of lifestyle in the gardens.

Press & Praise
“The Burra bungalows were more than homes, they were status statements. It has been said that the planters were wedded to their tea estates and built bungalows that were of architectural and historical significance.”
“Looking beyond the elaborate title, the beautifully designed and produced book, is a compendium of the many exquisite tea plantation bungalows scattered across North Bengal.”
“INTACH Calcutta Chapter initiated a visual documentation of the ‘burra bungalows’ – the residence of the estate’s agents or managers, some of which still preserve the colonial architecture and antique artefacts that speak volumes of the lavish lifestyle of the people who lived here. Mumbai-based photographer Nikhil Kapur was roped in for the project which culminated in the coffee table book Burra Bungalows of North Bengal.”
